Rat Hollow Memorial

Tres the Tree Rat
tres3.jpg

Unfortunately rats have a very short lifespan so there tends to be a lot of heartache attached to owning rats. You'll find more pictures on this page than on my current Rat Hollow page. But these rats are forever loved and never forgotten.

This is Rory Borealis my very first rat. The rat for which my firstborn was named. He was the light of my life and I lost something very dear when he died.  Even in my worst days just the mention of his name would bring a smile to my face.

We use to say he was a dentist rat because of his fetish with trying to clean my teeth. Now I say "try" is the operative word, because I only let him do it for this picture I swear!!

Rats are #1 in our house!

This Dover Cliffs

Here he is with the love of his life Madeline who has also passed on. He followed her everywhere to the point of annoyance. I thought it was cute, she just thought of ways to ditch him LOL!

Dover Cliffies weighed in at 2 1/2lbs! I was very proud of that!!
Fatty, fatty 2x4 couldn't fit through the cage
door! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!

I mean look at the flub on this boy!
In our house the word "dover" has become
an adjective for all things large-LOL! Seriously!!!

Wallcen Gromit
gromit1.jpg
at Sea Port Village in San Diego. He even got to ride the ferry!

My little Gromit head loved to travel with us on our vactions. Although many of my other rats came on vacation, Gromit was the only one who was really well behaved and acted like he was really enjoying himself!!

Even when we went to resteraunts Gromit made sure to keep hidden so that we didn't freak out the other customers. The kids at church use to come up and ask to peek in my purse in hopes that they'd see my little rattie man.

This is Dublin Grove
picture028.jpg

Ever wonder what a drowned rat really looks like?
Dublin was totally unthrilled about having his bath;)

dublin1.jpg

But what a cutie he was once he was all dry.

This was my Trespassers William or Tres for short.
I was putting on a birthday hat for him so we
could celebrate my birthday together.
He was MOST unpleased!

tres1.jpg

Tressie was a terrific rat with such a great personality. I plan on naming my second child after this cutie.

tres2.jpg

But come on...look at that face!
How could I resist taking that picture?
And the hat did stay on for all of 90 seconds.

Oh No!! We've gotten dirty!

Must clean the dirt off!

This here is Opus Falls in his younger days.
It takes a truly skilled wildlife photographer
to catch him in his element.

The wildlife photographer here being my
husband, caught Opus eating a midmorning snack.

Here's Opus all grown up. He was very
indepented and wasn't much of a
cuddler until he hit old age.
But he was a very special little guy.

Opus had a great time exploring outside.

Oh what a sweet boy you were.

This is my Castor and one of my most recent losses. It was very unexpected. Castor had so much spunk in him and truly loved life. He was also good at mischief and stealing food off of my plate. I miss you Casta my Casta!

This is my fatty boy Pollux.
pollux5.jpg
He was nervous boy who prefered to hide instead of play.

Pollux died within a month of his brother Castor from several very cancerous tumors. As much as I miss him I know he's happier now that he's back with his bro. They came into this life together and they came close to leaveing it at the same time too.

Castor liked exploring the couch and the rest of the house.

Here's Castor cleaning yet again!

theboys2.jpg

They were best friends and spent all day together grooming,
eating, napping, wrestling, and being cute!
They even had a synchronized dance they did when they
saw food coming. We called it
"The Hunger Boo Dance" I miss that little dance.

Brothers goofing off!
